Get an official Facebook Label

When you own a Facebook page categorized under a company or an organization, your page is eligible for a verification badge.

Verification badges let your page visitors know that your page is authentic. While blue verification badges are for public figures, celebrities, and brands, gray verification badges are for businesses and companies. Getting verified on Facebook is a great way to establish brand credibility online.

What are the requirements to apply for a verified badge?

In addition to following Facebook’s terms of service, your account needs to be:

  • Authentic: Your account must represent a real person, registered business, or entity,

  • Unique: Your account must be the unique presence of the person or business it represents. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. Facebook doesn't verify general interest accounts (example: Puppy Memes),

  • Complete: Your account must be active and have an about section, profile photo, and at least one post.

  • Notable: Your account must represent a well-known, often searched person, brand, or entity. Facebook reviews accounts that are featured in multiple news sources and they don't consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.

How to apply for a Facebook Verification of your page?
  • Click on Settings at the top of your Facebook Page,

  • From the General menu, click the Page Verification selection,

  • You will have the option for an instant or more detailed verification process. The instant verification choice gives you the option to have Facebook call the phone number you have listed on your Business Page. If you choose the more detailed option,  click on Verify this Page with documents instead. When prompted, upload a picture of the official document that clearly shows your business’s name and address. For example, an internet bill will work.

  • Once Facebook receives your validation (verification code or business document) they will review and either confirm or deny your request.

What are the benefits of having a blue or grey badge? Is it worth it?
  • Boosts the credibility of your business or your personal brand. Users will know they are interacting with the real page and not an impostor or fake account,

  • Clients will know that you take your social media game seriously, especially if you are an Ad Agency,

  • Verified pages will rank higher on Facebook’s Graph Search and on Google search results.
